Description
Annotation translation: "D.W. 2980 - Sea shells are successfully used as temporary artificial eyes at the Gold Coast Hospital, Accra. The shell is used to keep the inside of the socket open, and the lids apart, until the permanent artificial eye is ready. Dr. C. B. Huppenbauer, the eye surgeon, is seen fitting a sea shell artificial eye."
