Description
Photograph of the ruins of Mission la Purisima Concepcion, showing an earthquake faultline in the hills of 1826, ca.1890. Tall adobe walls are visible to the left, worn down at their right side, where several apparently intersected. Small, square windows can be seen positioned in them at two different levels. In the right background, a deep rift can be seen running through a hill in the background. The picture file card identifies it as the result of an earthquake and notes that it was 150 feet deep in certain spots. Mountains can be seen in the left background, while sedgegrass fills the foreground in front of the mission.
