Amidst the mini malls is an oasis of farmland called the Tapia Brothers Farm Stand, a produce stand located at Hayvenhurst and Burbank Avenues, where they sell the freshest of fresh produce. The farm, famous for its year-round produce stand, is one of the oldest in the area; it has been in business some 35 years. Two annual highlights are Halloween, when Tapia Brothers stocks thousands of large pumpkins, and "Tomatomania," believed to be the nation's largest tomato seedling sale. Most of the Tapia fields lie adjacent along Burbank Boulevard and over by the West Valley Little League fields. Shown in the photo is young Xin Ling Stein in the pumpkin patch, trying to hold on to a large pumpkin she has chosen, quite possibly, as her future jack-o-lantern. Photograph dated October 20, 2002.
