A house-to-house search was launched for clues in the slaying of two 6-year-old San Fernando girls whose near-nude bodies were found Monday night in an empty refrigerator near their home. Both had been criminally assaulted. The girls were Stephanie Hanna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hanna, 533 Harps St., and Paula Cram, a foster child living with the family. Police said the girls apparently had been dead for about five hours when found. At 11 p.m., Police Chief Winford E. Slaughter met Mrs. Leonora Greenfield (pictured), of 551 Harps St. near her house. Slaughter said the woman told him she had remembered an empty refrigerator in her garage. She remembered she had left the doors propped open that afternoon and when she looked in later that night, the refrigerator door had been closed and she was scared to look in it. Slaughter entered the garage, opened the refrigerator, and found the bodies of the deceased girls inside.
