Description
Two part audio narration about the history of the prune industry in Santa Clara Valley. Part 1 is an introduction to the history of agriculture in the Valley beginning with the Spanish missions. Part 2 introduces the Pellier family and the prune boom of the early 20th century. San Jose's Pellier Park, dedicated on November 29, 1977, is named after Louis Pellier, father of the California prune industry. This recording may have been created in conjunction with a museum exhibit or presentation around the time of the park dedication.
