Photograph shows Jack A. Risley, 26, charged with the manslaughter death of 7-year-old Patrick Burns, as he and his attorney Brinton N. Bowles listen to testimony. Burns was killed when the automobile Risley was driving struck him at the intersection of Ninth and Valencia streets, throwing him 159 feet away. Witnesses say Risley ignored the crossing guard's "Stop" sign and plowed through, hitting young Burns. Photograph dated November 14, 1947.
