Description
A panoramic view of San Vicente volcano in El Salvador. The volcano's original name, from the Nahuatl language, is Chichontepec and is known by locals as "Las Chiches." Smoke can be seen in the mountains, where conflict between soldiers and guerrilleros took place. Below the volcano in the foreground there are scattered houses and agricultural lands. Richard Cross took this image in 1982 while covering the presidential election and War of Liberation in El Salvador. Una vista panorámica del volcán de San Vicente en El Salvador.
