Description
A sheet of the tax and license accounts for calendar year 1941 compiled by Tomoji Wada for "Individual income tax return resident for gross incomes of more than $5,000 from salaries, wages, dividends, interest, annuities, and for incomes from other sources regardless of amounts for calendar year 1941, Form 540," which is found in item: csudh_wad_0185. Tomoji Wada was an interpreter, bookkeeper, operator of a grocery store, and manufacturer of tofu and mochi on Terminal Island, California prior to World War II. He established a tofu manufacturing plant at the Poston camp in Arizona during the war, and became a gardener after returning from the incarceration camp to Los Angeles, California. The collection consists of receipts, ledgers, taxes, correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, journals, guidebooks, immigration materials, and incarceration camp records pertaining to Tomoji Wada and his family. Materials include born-digital objects created and transferred from the donor.
