Description
A large rosebush grows around a dead tree trunk on the Los Robles estate owned by General George Stoneman in San Gabriel (now San Marino, California). Trees planted in rows are on either side of the bush.
Title transcribed from front of photo-mount. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Printed on photo-mount below title: "From Watkins' Yosemite Art Gallery, Portrait and Landscape, 26 Montgomery Street, opp. Lick House Entrance. S.F." Written in pencil to left of title: "Rosebush at," and above title, "Pasadena." Image corresponds with Watkins New Series stereo #4399, but with a variant title and cropping.
