William Pierson, 18, Air Force inductee, at the Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station, tells a reporter, "The draft is not fair to those who will be called up right in the middle of their college education. Universal service might solve this and allow a person who wants to improve himself by waiting until he finishes school, then drafting him in an area where he can be of the most use to the nation. He'll be able to serve with more intelligence and skill and he also has a much better chance at becoming an officer than before." Photo date: June 11, 1966.
