Photograph is a group portrait of Mayor Norman Y. Mineta posing with Susanne B. Wilson, Karen Hyde, and Marguerite Anderson at the bottom of a staircase in San Jose City Hall. On verso: "Susi Wilson, Karen Hyde, Marguerite Anderson with Mayor Norman Mineta at San Jose City Hall. Stamped in black ink: Martin and Rita Rowe Photographers. 19042 Tilson Ave., Cupertino 95014. Phone (408) 252-4786." Susanne B. Wilson served as YWCA president from 1967 to 1970, which was a turning point for her. In 1973 she became a San Jose City Council woman and became Vice Mayor. She then spent 12 years on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, rising to Chairwoman. She never forgot the YWCA and in the mid-1980's Wilson helped spark the new headquarters and residence downtown, and drove the multimillion-dollar campaign to build it.
