Description
Image of a Japanese fishing village located along the old Beach Road and north of the Long Wharf in Pacific Palisades, California.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title based on note from Ernest Marquez; date devised by cataloger based on a caption for this image in found in Ernest Marquez publication Santa Monica Beach (Angel City Press, 2004), p 35, dated 1915. The village was started in 1899 by Hatsuji Sano and was burned down in 1916. The old Beach Road eventually became Pacific Coast Highway.
