Photograph caption dated September 26, 1956 reads, "Years ago the now defunct El Mery Club laid out 40 by 60 foot lots for a townsite in Upper Kagel Canyon and those who wanted to get away from it all had first crack at the hillside parcels for homesites. Among those who invested in some of these lots were Mrs. Elva Koepke and her husband Ernest. Mrs. Koepke displays one of original subdivision plans showing layout of area. Most homes in canyon are of unpretentious design." See images 00147348 through 00147354 for all photos in this series.
