Description
A large crowd attends a demonstration at Plaza 19 de Julio held in honor of two young men murdered by Contras. In front of the crowd there is a coffin draped with the blue-and-white flag of Nicaragua. In the background there is a large stage with a large mural that reads, "20 years from the fight, we vow to defend victory!!" The mural contains the faces of revolutionaries Augusto César Sandino and Carlos Fonseca. The mural also contains the black-and-white flag of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN). Several men in the Junta of National Reconstruction are visible on the stage, of which only Sergio Ramírez Mercado (standing on the left in a white guayabera) can be positively identified. He served as a member of the Junta and as vice president from 1985-1990 under president Daniel Ortega.
