Description
"Kasaja with his mother." Portrait of a small boy and his mother. This was taken during a stop-over in Zanzibar en route to British East Africa. This image is from a collection of photographs which possibly belonged to Dr Karl Uffman, son of Dr Henry Uffman of the Leprosy Asylum in Purulia, West Bengal. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and joined the Kikuyu mission in Kenya, from 1901 to 1905.
