Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated March 6, 1961 partially reads, "'If the Motor Vehicle Department knew about my record,' a dark-haired businessman quipped, 'they would take my license away.' Jack Allen, a man with a definite tendency toward the dramatic, added, 'That's because I've wrecked more than 500 cars this year.' These two sentences make up a favorite expression of Allen's, owner of a North Hollywood wrecking yard, whenever he tries to explain his job."
