Country Club Centre at Watt and El Camino avenues is shown in this 1958 photograph. In its original form and with a $4,000,000 price tag, the center was made up of 35 merchants, employing some 700 people. Its second phase of construction started in October of 1958. Visible are the storefronts of Lucky, Walgreen's Drug Company, Emigh Hardware, W.T. Grant Department Store, Eagleson's Men's Clothing, Kid-E-Korral Toys, Moss Women's Clothing, Heintz Bakery, Green & Heyden Shoes, Anita Women's Clothing, Kirby's Shoe Store and J.C. Penney.
