A print of this image appears in the Huntington Library's Verne Dyson Collection (mssHM 26404) p. 66 (Box 3) under the heading "Chino. San Bernardino County" and has the caption: "Fort Cota. A fortified residence on Rancho Chino. The iron bars may be seen at the windows." "Botier" is probably a reference to the family name Botiller; Anastacio Botiller was the son-in-law of Bernardo Yorba, owner of the Rancho Canon de Santa Ana. Cota and Botiller were both pioneer Los Angeles families. Condition note: White "flaring" seen on the edge of this digital image is present in the original negative.
