Black and White photograph: Man of Chinese origin who was detained at Angel Island Internment Camp, Angel Island, San Francisco Bay, San Francisco, California,June 24, 2003. From 1910 until 1945, Angel Island served as a detention center to facilitate the exclusion of the immigration of Chinese people under the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act. The stone obelisk with Chinese writing in the background commemorates their internment.
