Description
No. 2 Firehouse in Nevada City is a venerable brick structure that houses the city's pioneer fire fighting equipment. It was built in 1861, and in its tower is the bell that long tolled the warning that a fire was on the rampage. Today's modern fire warning system has eliminated it as a prime piece of equipment but it still is rang on special occasions and when a firemen is being taken to his last resting place.
