Description
Photograph of San Francisco earthquake damage, showing Sansome Street, 1906. Exposed pipes and slabs of wood stick out of the sea of debris at center. The tall, arched windows of the building on the left have busted out. Two buildings across the street in the background have crumbled almost completely, leaving only small, damaged portions of their exterior walls standing. The buildings further down the street are covered in a wall of thick smoke.
