Description
Photograph of passengers on a railroad car at the top of the Echo Mountain Incline Railway, October13, 1909. The two-tiered car is at left and is loaded with a large number of passengers. The top tier of the car is covered by a cloth awning. Men, women, and children are visible, and all are dressed in nice clothes and hats. Several people can be seen standing in front of the car or on stairs at right.
A large sign at right reads: "Pacific Electric Ry. Alpine Tavern 5000 Feet above the sea Mt. Lowe 6100 Feet Echo Mountain Elevation 8500 feet above the sea".
