There is a trapezoidal island in the middle of the channel, and a circular canal is visible above it. The land on the island and around the channel is marked by wide streets. The state highway runs diagonally across the image and is marked by the words "State Highway". The railroad, which leads to Los Angeles, runs horizontally across the image and is marked by the words "PE RR to LA".
