Description
Annotation translation: [On the reverse of the card there stands printed:] "It is extremely important that the missionaries in all parts of the non-christian world have as many good assistants from the ranks of the converted as soon as this is possible. For this purpose they have set up seminaries for preachers and teachers everywhere they can, where young men are prepared for this work. These assistants know their people and its religion, language and customs much better than the missionaries and they are much better fitted for the climate. They are, as it were, the missionaries' right hand. The pastors and future leaders of these new churches for the heathen-christians will be recruited from their ranks, as will the teachers to whom can be entrusted the education of the young. One can say that there are already many good people of this type, which could be seen in China during the Boxer Rebellion, in which many Chinese christian assistants suffered with joy their death as martyrs.
