Don Jose de la Cruz Ruiz standing in front of a small building with steps leading up to it and palm fronds over the top. Identified as "Avila Station" but this could be a misidentification - possibly it is "Aliso Station."[?] Title devised by cataloger based on identification by donor Ernest Marquez on original housing. "Avila" may be incorrect, as no reference to this station could be found. It could be he meant "Aliso"- Aliso Street was a stop on the P.E. line. Don Jose de la Cruz Ruiz (d. 1935) (also known as Joe C. Ruiz or “Joseto”) was a descendant of Maximo Alaniz, grantee of Rancho San Jose de Buenos Aires in L.A. County. (Los Angeles Times, Dec. 2, 1937.)
