Description
Photograph of men and burros laboring at a "Mexican Water System" around what may be a large well, ca.1920. Men in wide-brimmed hats are shown at center, tending to a pulley system that hangs from a frame made of a wooden beam hung between two brick pillars. Circumscribing this structure are wooden troughs that are suspended above the ground. To the right, two men can be seen tending to a set of donkeys that are positioned under the troughs. Each donkey is equipped with two large saddle-bags that hang down nearly to the ground. Mountains are visible in the background.
