Photographic portrait of a veteran standing near a cannon on the grounds of the Soldiers' Home in Santa Monica, CA, [s.d.]. The artillery piece is at left and is pointed to the left. A solitary man is standing near the wheel of the gun, facing the same direction as the barrel. Several large boxes are arranged near the cannon. A large field is visible behind the cannon, and it is full of an assortment of trees and bushes. In the background, three large buildings with tall towers are visible. Photoprint reads: "Munsey & Best, cameras & photo supplies, 406 South Broadway (Chamber of Commerce Building), Los Angeles, Cal.".
