Photograph caption dated May 27, 1955 reads "Robyn Richter, 9, above, of 1303 Ave. R 3, Palmdale, is congratulated by Los Angeles City Council President John S. Gibson, right on taking first place in Youth Division of Parky Theme Song contest sponsored by City Department of Recreation and Parks. Looking on is Grand Prize winner Ivan Clark of Hollywood." Parky, "the tidy kangaroo," is a symbol of city anti-litter campaign. Along with his handler Jerry Wanek, he performs throughout the city.
