Photograph article dated September 19, 1949 partially reads, "There wasn't any ceremony. There was just a deep, moving sense of accomplishment today as two blind women received their guide dogs and certificates of training from International Guiding Eyes, Inc. It brought to a close, in a manner of speaking, many years of helplessness for Miss Sylvia C. Perera, 37, of 1412 San Fernando Rd., San Fernando, and Miss Gladys Canfield, of Erie, Pa. Both are confident that, for the first time in their lives, they will be able to get a hold productive jobs." Pictured are, left to right, Joseph W. Jones, Sylvia Perea, Gladys Canfield and Capt. L. A. Kreimer at Jones' school at 118 S. Virginia Ave. in Burbank.
