Description
A Hornet-powered Lockheed Air Express plane along with other planes at Union Airport (Bob Hope Airport) in Burbank. This was the second aircraft designed and created by the Lockheed Aircraft Company after its founding in 1927. The design of the Air Express was based on the original fuselage of the Lockheed Vega, but the wing was raised to a parasol configuration above the fuselage and the cockpit was moved to behind the wing. Only seven Air Express planes were built. Photo dated: July 3, 1929.
