Description
Bill Honig, state superintendent of public instruction, who "is one of two state schools chiefs on the 14-member blue-ribbon board" (probably refers to the NAEP--National Assessment of Educational Progress--study group). He was elected in 1982 and served three terms. Formerly a teacher and school superintendent, Honig served on the State Board of Education and the State's UC Board of Regents. He has worked in a variety of education nonprofits including CORE (cofounder, Consortium on Reading Excellence) and founded Honig Vineyard and Winery in the Napa Valley.
