Description
Portrait of Marion L. Obera being sworn in as deputy district attorney, the first African American to hold this office in Los Angeles or in California. Manley J. Bowler, chief deputy district attorney, administered the oath in ceremonies in his office on August 13, 1963. Prior to this time she worked as a social case worker following a stint in the Air Force.
