Description
V1p322a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 322 top. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written under photo: "Hyde & Chestnut." Photo shows a man and a woman in an auto in front of the William Penn Humphreys house at Hyde and Chestnut. This house, with its castellated roof and octagonal tower, was built in 1852 and was for many years reputed to be the oldest in San Francisco. The occupants of the car have stopped and are looking at the house. The auto and people are also seen in the photos on page 322 bottom, page 323 bottom, and page 24 top.
