Der Stich aus dieser ersten Publikation kann datiert werden auf zwischen frühestens 1848 bis spätestens Februar 1854, ist von weitaus besserer Qualität und wurde wiederum veröffentlicht: (Missionary Encounters, 1996: 104). (MS 09.1998). - Auch QQ-30.005.0115 wurde publiziert, unter dem Titel: "Kanuri-Sprachlehrer (Dr. Kölle's)." (Bilder-Tafeln zur Länder- und Völker-Kunde mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der evangelischen Missionsarbeit. Herausgegeben von dem Calwer Verlagsverein. Calw & Stuttgart. 1883: Tf. 143, 3). Note translation: Reproduction of an engraving printed elsewhere, e.g. as frontispiece of Sigmund Koelle's "Grammar of the Bornu or Kanuri Language", 1854. - The signature can be read in that printed version: "J. Johnston." - Because of the publication in 1854 we can date the engraving to 1848-1854. The 1854 published version is far better in quality, and was itself published in a short modern essay ("Missionary Encounters" 1996: 104.) (MS 09.1998). - This image was also published towards the end of the nineteenth century with the caption "Dr Koelle's Kanuri teacher", in "Bilder-Tafeln zur Länder- und Völker-Kunde mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der evangelischen Missionsarbeit", published by the Calwer Verlagsverein.
