Description
two views, front and back, of Parisian men's fashions are displayed in this illustration for Petit Courrier des Dames. The more distant gentleman on the left wears a white shirt and very tall cravat, white waistcoat with four buttons, tan stirrup trousers, and a brown tailcoat. His coat has wide square notched lapels, and sleeves with fullness at the shoulders. He wears a black top hat, white gloves, and flat black shoes with small bows. His trousers are strapped at the foot, and his hat is worn at a jaunty angle. His hair is curled and cut short with long sideburns and a waxed mustache. He carries a riding crop. The gentleman on the right wears a similar outfit in different colors. The back view of his hunter green jacket reveals pleated styling and flaps at the hips. The collar is wide and the sleeves reach down onto the hand. He wears white stirrup trousers, tan gloves, and a gray top hat. He also carries a walking stick.
