Description
Jane Chandler writes about health of family and acquaintances. She writes about her financial circumstances and what led her to go to work in Lowell’s mills. Speaking of her financial situation, she writes, “I am as willing to work for a living as any one, and all the reason I have not before was on the children’s account… You seem to rejoice that you have driven me to it by not sending me any money.” She explains why she would not like to move to California permanently. Notations in pencil on the first page at the top read: “A few words from The Misses, her only letter in the lot.”
