101-year-old Mexican native Carlos Romero-Gaitan was granted his temporary residency card. He was the oldest applicant so far in the amnesty program. With him are (L to R) INS Western Region Commissioner Harold Ezell, grandson Sevi Romero, and INS officer Mary Lujan, who handled Romero-Gaitan's case in the Salinas area. Ezell is holding a statue of liberty; the real statue is the same vintage as Mr. Romero-Gaitan. He is holding a sign reminding amnesty applicants they have only 48 more days to apply.
