Description
On July 24, 1946 a caravan of 35 taxi drivers--all war veterans--headed from Los Angeles to Sacramento to ask Governor Warren and the state legislature to take action against discrimination and harassment against veterans seeking to operate cabs in the Los Angeles Harbor area. The Harbor War Veterans Transportation Association claimed that their cab drivers were being forced out of the area by the two existing cab franchises through the collusion of local city government. In this photograph, the caravan passed down a wide boulevard of an unidentified town. complete;
