Title supplied by cataloger. The Calamigos Star C Ranch was founded by J. Grant and Helen Gerson in 1947. The 120-acre ranch was built to resemble a town in the Old West, holding overnight summer camp and later switching to day camp. The teen-age Beauty Farm was opened in 1961. The "farm" functioned as a health club, charm school, and summer camp all rolled into one. The ranch is now used for weddings, conferences, corporate picnics and movie and TV shoots, and is operated by the Gerson's grandsons, Garrett and Garner Gerson. Photograph caption dated July 28, 1965 reads "Miss Teen-age Los Angeles, Gloria Gonzales, serves herself some green salad. Miss Gonzales won a two-week stay at the Beauty Farm as one of her prizes. In background is Marcie Mentz of Sherman Oaks." The teen-age Beauty Farm is located in the hills above Malibu.; See images #00119948 through #00119950 for all photos in this series.
