Description
Photograph of the Painter Hotel in Pasadena, looking west, ca.1889. The stately three-stroy wooden building has an extensive porch and balcony in the front. A series of arches in the front of the square tower over the main entry opens into another open air area. A low stone wall fronts the property along the sidewalk in front. Two men stand on the sidewalk. One man stands on the front lawn near some plants. A few small trees, including a fan palm, also dot the lawn. The road in front has streetcar rails in it. Part of a building is visible across the street at left. Hills rise in the background. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1913 or 1914.
