Description
Detailed, close-up view of top left corner of a completed baby carrier (Daim Nyias, Dlaim Hlaab Nyas). The image shows the dark blue batik fabric and final appliqué designs in red, white, and yellow. Motifs depicted include white dots representing seeds (noob) and triangles representing mountains (roob). The large red appliqué is part of a hook (tus khawb) motif. Repeating rows of white, red, and yellow appliqué create a border (ntug) around the central design. Typed label affixed to the mat board beneath photograph reads, "Detail of baby-carrier, center section. Batik and appliqué[sic]." Date derived from stamp on mat board recto. Notes on verso read: "HMong Baby Carrier #13 (Photo 13), Lewis Judy, *HMO.4060.00* Fall 2002 [printed label, upper left verso]; HMO. [handwritten black ink, upper right verso]; L.F.C [handwritten black ink, lower right verso]; FEB 12 1987 [stamped red ink, lower right verso]" Original title from SEACRC: HMong: Baby carrier and seed pillows (18 photos)
