Description
Carl Fisher, identified as African American and part Mississippi Choctaw, became an Auxiliary Bishop for the Los Angeles Archdiocese in 1987 and supervised 70 parishes, 53 elementary schools and 10 high schools in the San Pedro Pastoral Region. He was the 12th Black Catholic Bishop in the United States and the first on the West Coast.
