Photograph was edited for publication purposes The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated May 17, 1962 reads, "It was amateur day Wednesday at Pierce College rodeo grounds in Woodland Hills, but for most it was like riding an elevator - up and down all day. At least, the saddle-sore students will be able to throw the bull now about the time they were given a bum steer. This weekend, college teams from California, Arizona and Nevada will gather at Pierce for the Intercollegiate Rodeo Championships."; See images #00135826 through #00135828 for all photos in this series.
