Description
As a K-12 school, Elder Creek Elementary had a Chinese Immersion Program that fostered bilingual students to learn Chinese and English. The program blended Chinese- and English-speaking students together. Beginning with an 80/20 model, the program started with 80 percent Cantonese and 20 percent English and went up from there. This Elder Creek Elementary School photograph shows the graduating class of 1934. A diverse mixture of students between American and Chinese made up the class.
