Description
Photograph of an aerial view of Los Angeles looking north from 36th Street, ca.1940. Hoover Street runs from the foreground to the background at center, and the University of Southern California can be seen in the foreground at center. Such USC structures as the Hancock Foundation, the Bovard Auditorium, Old College, Doheny Library, PE Building, and Bovard Field can be seen. The Shrine Auditorium is visible at right. Hundreds more buildings can be seen in the background as the city sprawls out past the edges of the image. Note: Originally, the image was dated by 1932 however, the presence of AHF (Allan Hancock Foundation) Building, which was opened in 1940, suggests that the picture was taken circa 1940.
