Photograph caption dated July 14, 1961 reads, "John Gay works at home - Wanted: A party that rejects aid." A local political activist and member of the American Legion, Young Republicans, and John Birch Society, John Gay does not want to support a large federal government. "What I want is for a party to say it doesn't want aid at all."
