Description
Cabinet card photo of two young children, aged about 5 and 7 years old, wearing white dresses, gloves, shoes and socks, with fancy hats and bows in their hair over each ear. Their hats are decorated with feathers and ribbons, and have ribbon ties that go behind their ears and tie in a large bow under the chin. Their hair is curled, with the younger child having chin length curls and the older one having shoulder length sausage curls and bangs in ringlets as well. The older child is also wearing a short pearl or bead necklace that is partially hidden behind the bow under the chin. Their shoes are flat Mary Janes with instep straps that button. The older child is standing with right hand on the younger one's left shoulder and left hand holding the younger child's right hand. They are posed in front of a backdrop representing a field of flowers with some trees and a fence to the left of the image and a lake or pond in the background. There is a studio prop brick or stone wall next to the younger child, and their right arm is resting on top of it. Inscription on the back in dark blue ink: "May. 22nd 1907. / San Francisco / California / U.S.A. / David Philpot" Studio name is stamped in gold on the front of the mat.
