Photograph caption dated May 14, 1964 reads, "The proposed Father Garrett's Boys Home is headed toward construction, thanks to land-owner S. J. Summers, who agreed to accept a $5,000 down payment instead of $15,000 due on property for ranch in Acton, Calif. The money was raised at a star-studded benefit variety show. Pictured are, from left, Father Garrett, Sumners, James Drury (TV's 'The Virginian'), Robert Fuller ('Wagon Train') and John Mitchum, who produced the show. Sumners, a paraplegic said he was impressed with money-raising effort."
