Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph caption dated October 7, 1963 reads, "An instant before - Willie Davis watches Whitey Ford's pitch go into catcher Elston Howard's glove. On the next pitch Davis belted Ford's delivery to deep center and enabled Jim Gilliam to score the winning run of the fourth game of the World Series. Right, Joe Pepitone is unable to make the big play as he races after ball which got by him in seventh inning of the game. Gilliam, who had a hit grounder to Clete Boyer, continued on to third base after Pepitone lost ball in the crowd and was charged with an error. Sandy Koufax shutout the Yankees in the eighth and ninth innings to preserve the win." See images 00156835 through 00156843 for all photos in this series.
