A Christmas and New Year's card for Papa-san from Yaeko Ishikawa. A letter addressed to Papa-san from Ishikawa is included in the card. In the letter, Ishikawa thanks him for the Christmas present and says that she is presenting him with a little token of her appreciation. She shares that she lost her parents during the war years, and that his smile reminds her of her father. Ishikawa informs him that because she cannot speak nor understand the English language, it makes her feel downhearted because she is not able to speak to him and answer his questions. She goes on to say that she hopes he will visit her in the staff dining room. Papa-san probably refers to Charles W. Protzman, Sr.
